Your UMF Account.

UMF remains your trusted partner in ministry. Your Foundation remains firmly grounded in helping you achieve the dreams God has placed on your heart.

The North Carolina Annual Conference published the process for clergy and churches to disaffiliate from the United Methodist Church. This process is based upon section 2553 of The Book of Discipline. Section 2553 requires disaffiliation to occur on or before December 31, 2023.

Frequently asked questions.

To bring clarity regarding your UMF account(s), please see below:

Can our church investment account(s) remain at UMF if our church disaffiliates?

Yes. If your church is considering or has decided to leave the United Methodist denomination, it’s important to know that the Foundation can still manage your funds. UMF is a stand-alone corporation with the ability to manage funds for any church organization – even those that disaffiliate from the United Methodist denomination.

Will we continue to receive distributions if our church disaffiliates?

Yes. Assuming the amendment process mentioned above is completed.

Do we need to update our account(s) if our church disaffiliates?

Yes. Based on the type of account agreement you have with UMF, you’ll need to amend your agreement(s) to reflect, among other things, the new name of your church. UMF will prepare this amendment for you. The amendment will take effect on the date of disaffiliation.

Is the amendment process complicated?

No. UMF will review your account(s) and tailor the amendment to accommodate the original terms of your agreement

Our mission at UMF remains the same … To help God’s people pay it forward.

We’re all standing on the shoulders of those who came before us, and others will soon be standing on our shoulders. UMF remains your trusted partner in ministry. While the United Methodist denomination is in a state of change, it’s important for you to know that your Foundation remains firmly grounded in helping you achieve the dreams God has placed on your heart.
