The Reginald Ponder Generosity Award
UMF is excited to announce its first named award for the generosity of our partners.
The Reginald Ponder Generosity Award was created by UMF to honor individuals who exhibit exceptional generosity to causes and worthy people over a long period of time. The annual award is $1,000 and the recipient will have the opportunity to select a fund of their choosing at UMF to place the award.
This award was created to honor its namesake, Dr. Reginald Ponder, Sr. Dr. Ponder’s achievements in the NC Conference and the impact of his work and the generosity of he and his wife Carrie will be felt by individuals they will never meet this side of heaven. Their impact will go on for generations to come.
Accomplishments of Dr. Reginald Ponder
Served as president of Louisburg College. Oversaw large renovation project and turned the college around when it struggled to survive.
Served as CEO of the United Methodist Retirement Homes. Oversaw large construction projects at Croasdaile Village and Cypress Glen.
Served for 35 years as a pastor in the North Carolina Conference. The churches he served grew wherever he was appointed.
Served as a District Superintendent.
Served for 34 years as UMF’s Board of Directors providing the needed guidance to help grow our foundation.
Served on staff at UMF for 10 years as Senior Advisor for Legacy Giving, developing several investment partners.
Dr. Reginald Ponder and his wife Carrie have created accounts at UMF valued at $1.6 million dollars.
The Ponders have walked the walk of generosity. Long after they are gone, people will learn about Jesus because of their generosity. What better legacy can you leave than that?
